An international, award-winning consultancy is seeking to appoint Senior Consultants to join the Development Planning teams in the north eastern offices. The role will focus primarily on assisting private sector clients to release the full development potential of sites through the development plan (shortly to become LDF’s) and planning development control processes.
Candidates will: have a minimum of 5 - 7 years experience gained within either a local highway authority or a private sector consultancy with a strong bias towards private sector commissions; will be a team player and posses excellent communication, presentation, inter-personal and leadership skills; have the ability to project manage commissions of up to £20,000; have experience of and ability to supervise junior members of the team; have comprehensive knowledge of transport assessments, transport policy and planning policy frameworks; have experience in the production of transport assessments and highway statements; have the ability to audit transport assessments and development plan proposals; have sound working knowledge of DMRB, local highway design guidance (when applicable), DB32, Places Streets and Movement, TRICS and junction capacity software including PICADY, OSCADY, ARCADY, TRANSYT and LINSIG; have strong numerical and analytical skills; have experience of producing preliminary highway design layouts including major * minor junctions, grade separated junctions, roundabouts and residential developments; have experience in the development of deliverable Travel Plans; have experience of development transport master-plans and transport strategies; be fully conversant with sustainable transport initiatives; scoping and supervision of traffic surveys; have experience in accident investigation.
The following would also be advantageous: client liaison; negotiations in relation to Section 106, 278 agreements and developer contributions; Appreciation of microscopic traffic simulation; Familiarity with AutoTRACK; Experience of planning appeals and attendance as expert highway witness at public inquiry; Car parking strategies; Traffic management experience; Road and public footpath closure order applications.
You will also have a full driving licence (preferable). Ideally with a degree in an engineering discipline, (or suitable equivalent) and seeking professional membership of a relevant professional body such as Engineering Council (UK), ICE, MIHT, IHIE.
All candidates should have good communication skills and strong report writing abilities and may be required to provide samples of work at interview.
